HATCH
Nestled snugly under the Mancunian Way on Oxford Road, Hatch opened in 2017 as a space for creative and independent businesses to work and trade for as long (or as short) as they need.
Here you’ll find an interesting mix of traders and makers – from hairdressers to vintage clothing stores – living out their lives in fancy shipping containers. All are catered to by a healthy mix of food and drink outlets.
At any one time, take your pick from up to ten independent street food vendors that rotate regularly. Selling everything from Geordie speciality chicken Parmo at Parmogeddon, to Sicilian arancino at T’arricrii, to vegan junk food at Herbivorous.
Mornings are sorted thanks to the resident coffee specialist, Takk, whose unusual coffee blends keep Oxford road caffeinated seven days a week from a serving hatch on the main road. You can also grab a seat in its Scandi-inspired space which is, of course, dog friendly.
Drinks at Hatch are seen to by three bars including the Miami Ice cocktail bar and the ÖL Nano Brewery – an award-winning specialist craft beer bar and bottleshop serving beer from local and international breweries.
Take a stroll around the indoor/outdoor space and you’ll find an interesting mix of traders, too. From the Portland Barbers to It’s a Nail Thing (specialising in statement nail art) to the Suzy Loves Milo vintage clothing store. There’s also Sneaker Pharm, Manchester’s first drop-off shoe cleaning boutique, plus the DJ Gym, offering one-to-one DJ and production courses.
