Lerpwl

Restaurant - Modern British

Bringing a touch of class to the Albert Dock and the highest-quality produce from small farms and fisheries in Wales and beyond, Lerpwl (Welsh for Liverpool) is a fine-dining restaurant from the locally born Barrie brothers Ellis and Liam, of Anglesey’s acclaimed Marram Grass.

“Refined but informal”, Lerpwl – with its open kitchen and waterfront location – aims to have atmosphere yet allow customers an intimate dining experience sampling chef-driven food. “The raw energy behind windswept coastlines and open countryside is what inspires our food,” they say, and provenance and responsible local produce is key, from sustainably sourced shellfish to home-grown aged pork from Anglesey. The menus change with availability (“a supplier’s best catch, or a new vegetable walking through the front door”) and seasons, and include the full-on chef’s tasting menu, offering “the current seasonal flavours of Lerpwl in a complimentary sequence of dishes”, and the Capricious menu, which is a five-course format erring on the experimental side, and aimed at lunch or for those “simply wanting for a quicker way to enjoy great food and drink”. Sundays see a special three-course menu, offering a limited number of mains served in the family roast sharing style, from line-caught sea bass to dry-aged sharing duck, BBQ celeriac to slow-cooked aubergine.

You could even opt to prop up the Oyster Bar and sample the fresh fish while enjoying the energy of the open kitchen, or sit water side at Margot’s and have a mosey at the expertly crafted cocktail menu – perfect for a pre- or post-dinner drink, or just as a restorative stop in your day.
