Milk & Honey Cafe
Milk & Honey Cafe does pretty much what it says on the tin – it’s a bona fide cafe, only open during the daytime in the week, and it serves up breakfasty things, none containing milk or honey, however. Wholesome meals are all plant-based, ethically sourced and seasonal.
The not-for-profit cafe is also part of St Peter’s House, the Christian chaplaincy for the Manchester Universities and RNCM, so community spirit abounds, along with the proper coffee, “heartwarming” brews, coffee roasted by local outfit Heart & Graft and freshly cooked food. Main dishes change daily according to what comes in, but previous soups, salads and stews specials have included: marinated tofu and tomato chilli broth bowl with crispy shallots; beetroot tabbouleh with kale, pomegranate, feta and flaked almonds, and jackfruit and chickpea rendang curry, cheeky basmati rice salad and slaw.
The ethos is of “good food and drink that bring people together around shared tables”, and the aim is that you leave full of a warm feeling as well as full of food.
