Peru Perdu

Restaurant - South American

Peru Perdu was originally a six-month residency restaurant at The Cotton Factory. Whether Covid or its popularity is responsible for its extended lifespan, we can’t say. We’ll just toast to the fact that we can still head there for ceviche and cocktails when the mood takes us.

Ceviche, probably Peru’s most famous culinary export, is one of its specialties, with options including salmon, sea bass, and tuna. Pair it with a few lively small plates such as crispy coconut shrimp and green papaya salad. The planta menu gives vegans a decent range of equally sunshiny options. Try the ‘this is not tuna’  made with grilled watermelon, jalapeño, soy, citrus, and coriander.

The rest of the menu is largely devoted to Uruguayan wet aged steak in various cuts, including Brazilian favourite, picanah (or rump cap).

For drinks, choose from an excellent list of South American wines, or their elegant line-up of coctéles (cocktails, innit). Current favourites include a summery lavender and coconut daiquiri and their house pisco sour.

Vibe-wise, Peru Perdu is millennial pink to the core, in keeping with its location in apart-hotel Whitworth Locke. They even do a ‘doggo roast’ on Sundays. (Humans must be dining too.)
