Holiday Inn Express Liverpool is a great value option for business travellers and mini-breakers. It’s set in a converted warehouse, part of the renowned Albert Dock, with some of the period flourishes and design features you’d expect from a high-end hotel. For the price and location, it’s a very good option.

Admittedly, it lacks some of the facilities of a five-star stay (a gym and a restaurant for example). But you’re better off exploring the city than eating in a bland hotel dining room – and you’re surrounded by places to eat on the waterfront.

The 135-room hotel has everything else you need such as tea and coffee making facilities, comfortable beds, and ergonomic desks for work travellers. For socialising, there’s a bar and lounge area with a big screen TV. A cooked breakfast comes as standard and parking is available too, which isn’t often the case with city centre hotels.
