Bannatyne Manchester Quay Street
This health club is almost as much a key feature of Quay Street as the Opera House next door. It’s been here since the 1990s and it’s still one of the most popular gym options in this part of town.
It’s primarily known for its 20m swimming pool with its wraparound mural that makes it look like you’re doing your lengths in a seaside lido circa 1910. It makes a nice change to neon and motivational quotes at least.
Other notable features are its poolside jacuzzi, steam room, and saunas: if you like to follow your workout with some quality relaxation time, Bannatyne Quay Street is a great option. It’s a spa as well as a gym so you can have a massage, facial or beauty treatment here too.
It’s very tempting to spend all your time chilling out, but if you do want to exercise, it’s got plenty to offer. The gym is equipped with high-tech kit including Technogym Skillrow and Skillmill. There’s also a group cycle room, and a studio for classes including Les Mills, HIIT and yoga.
They do day passes or you can become a member. Both are good value, considering the extent of the facilities.
