You feel the good folk of Folk know a thing or two about hangovers. Interiors-wise, it’s all low lighting and warm woods, cosy corners and leather banquette seating. Plates-wise, when it’s not breakfast and brunch territory, it’s burgers three ways and posh comfort food; perfect for mopping up pre or post session.
Heading north from their Burton Road basecamp, where they’ve been knocking out a decent Bloody Mary and DJ set since before the tram hit West Didsbury, the Prestwich Folk took over where SoLita left off, adding its own laid-back cool to a burgeoning indie food and drink scene. The menu offers a whistlestop global tour, from Moroccan lamb tagine with duck fat roasted couscous to Sri Lankan monkfish curry with coconut rice.
Best of all, the most expensive dish doesn’t even break that crisp tenner and fiver in your pocket (actually, our bad, “Folk is a cash free bar and restaurant”), and, like Northern Quarter stablemate Flok (see what they did there?), you can dine with your dog, as man’s best friend is as welcome as you are.
