Home Sweet HomeAmerican
Breakfast and brunch is really the name of the game at Home Sweet Home, a boho “bar & kitchen” on a Northern Quarter corner, although the shakes and cakes are said to be top drawer too, and you can wash down your bennies with craft beers, should you wish.
Think Classic American dining using high-quality, fresh ingredients. The menu promises a Home Sweet Home “happy feeling” and all-day comfort, and this manifests itself as various combinations of zesty smashed avocado, soft poached eggs and toasted sourdough. HSH’s signature fluffy pancake stacks are sweet or savoury, and indulged with maple syrup and crisped streaky bacon or ‘nanas and Nutella.
Soft brioche, meanwhile, is stuffed with double cheeseburger and various add-ons or buttermilk fried chicken thigh and hot sauce, or there’s a vegan version to get your chops round. That juicy buttermilk fried chicken also puts in an appearance as a burrito, with smoked bacon, American cheese and chipotle sour cream, or in a basket, with hickory barbecue sauce and house slaw, and sides come in the form of three types of fries: skin-on, sweet potato and “bacon bacon”. You’re gonna need a bigger belt.
