This glam rock and roll boozer on Bold Street is a bar, music venue, and upstairs, a restaurant. And while ‘gig venue’ and ‘quality dining’ don’t often belong in the same sentence, Jimmy’s Liverpool is an exception thanks to its mic-dropping menu of Southern US food.
Feast your eyes on the views of the Bombed Out Church, then turn your attention to the kitchen. Much of Jimmy’s food is barbecued on the ‘big green egg’ cooker. It infuses everything from the brisket to the sticky toffee pudding with a smoky, wood-charred depth.
Top dishes include an addictive smoked mac n cheese with a bone marrow crumb, and the full rack of ribs in Korean bbq sauce. Jimmy’s Sunday roast and weekend brunch are both known as proper celebrations – big plates of no-holds-barred indulgence, and a big atmosphere thanks to the live music. Book ahead.
Drinks include well-crafted cocktails and their own label beer. (Jimmy’s was first a brewery before they opened a bar in Manchester, then expanded to Liverpool and York.)
