The pavement tables outside Papillon - a cafe-bar and restaurant in Liverpool's Georgian Quarter
Book Now Merseyside

With its striped pink awning and corner spot on Hope Street, Papillon is one of the prettiest eating places in the Georgian Quarter. Step inside and it’s just as pleasing on the eye. A laidback yet stylish mix of sprawling potted plants, modern art, velvet and leather give it the feel of a Parisian loft apartment.

The menu is less Frenchy than the name and decor suggests, taking in a world-trotting range of influences. You’ll find Moroccan chicken, Malaysian curries, and Italian options such as pea and mint arancini. On Sundays they’re firmly in Great British territory with roast dinners including a vegan pie option.

The cocktails get excellent reviews here. For a picture-perfect sip go for their Apatura Iris made with Olmeca Blanco tequila, hibiscus, cranberry, and lime, and topped with hibiscus foam and fresh flowers.

It’s a top spot for small plates and wine, or a relaxed brunch, especially if you can bag a table outside. On Fridays live jazz music adds to the buzzy, cosmopolitan atmosphere.
