Rosa

Italian

Cicchetti, bar, grill. Breakfast, lunch, dinner. Rosa’s food is inspired by Italy, and the menus are updated regularly to reflect the changing seasons in this smart-looking restaurant complete with sheltered garden – also perfect for soaking up some sunshine and a cocktail or two.

Pink banquette seating and faux florals reflect the name, as do dishes such as salmone Rosa – pan-fried salmon with prawns and pink peppercorn sauce – and salmon-filled ravioli in a vodka, tomato and cream sauce. Steaks are big and bold, and include 10 ounces of fillet, for example, flamed with brandy and balsamic vinegar. Other strong flavours giving a nod to authentic Italian cuisine include truffle, teamed in the list of mains with beef medallions wrapped in Parma ham, and spicy Calabrian ndjua sausage and buffalo mozzarella topping altamura bread for one of the bruschetta choices of cicchetti starters. There’s truffle and porcini mushroom risotto and pizza, too, along with old favourites like fiorentina and quattro staggione. Meanwhile, pastas range from lasagne and spaghetti carbonara classics to lobster linguini – lobster thermidor is also on the menu when market allows; perfect for those days when you’re feeling flash (or head down on a weekday lunchtime, when there’s a special offer with your name on it).

Those days are also covered by the wine list, with four Champagnes along with two Italian sparklers to choose from. Dessert cocktails or dessert, you’re well catered for too, with plenty of choices along the lines of traditional tiramisu, affogato and gelato, and a red velvet martini, with cake crumbled into it.
