Stockdales Of Yorkshire

British

City centre brasserie serving world class steak. This grill house-come-brasserie has its own, UV-packed steak-ageing cabinet, which places Yorkshire meat – and produce – at the fore. Anthony Flinn (formerly of Anthony‚Äôs in the Corn Exchange, now a restaurant consultant) and head chef Jonathan Davies have come up with a menu that includes lobster mac and cheese, sweet razor clams with charred lemon juice, and chorizo or duck eggs Benedict with truffled hollandaise. Everything is very good and very indulgent – Leeds’ answer to Hawksmoor if you will – with hard-to-choose-between desserts such as lemon tart with a toasted almond ice cream, or vanilla parfait with whisky jelly and sorrel cress. Drinks are equally sophisticated. The Stockdales Martini combines herbal, perfumey Kummel Wolfschmidt and Lillet Blanc and there’s a choice of fine European wines. Exposed brickwork, dark wood, parquet flooring and panelled walls create a members-club vibe.
