The Refinery
BritishWith Moroccan tiling, concrete flooring and filament lighting, The Refinery is certainly on-trend with its decor. This chilled-out bar and restaurant on Hope Street hits the right notes on its menu too – with uncomplicated British classics such as beer battered haddock and proper chips, and the occasional influence from further afield. The crispy chilli chicken and egg-fried rice for example.
By day it’s light and airy with a rustic, casual feel. By night, it’s a seductive space with candlelit tables and an arty buzz from the nearby universities and theatres.
At the bar go for beers from microbreweries across the North West, or experience one of their technicolour cocktails such as the Colour Changing G&T or their popular Chocolate Espresso Martini.
Their ongoing food and drinks deals make it a good-value option if you’re there at the right time. Look out for their early-evening menu and the Thursday wine and dine offer.
