Vegan Shack

Restaurant - Vegan

Local hit Vegan Shack started life in owner Dimeji Sadiq’s one bedroom Salford flat where he used to cook up plant-based versions of fast food for himself and his girlfriend.

Spotting a gap in the market, they opened Vegan Shack as a takeaway in Collyhurst before relocating to the bright lights of Piccadilly Gardens in summer 2021, much to the delight of their small army of vegan fans. Vegan Shack v2 is still a takeaway but with a couple of tables – most people buy their burgers to go.

Their food is the vegan equivalent of a late-night kebab stop or a hungover crawl to McDonalds. Look out for their ‘doner kebab’ featuring house-made seitan wrapped in fresh khobez bread with salad, chilli sauce and mayo, or their plant-based version of a breakfast muffin, the shack muffin. They even do a vegan take on the golden arches’ classic apple pies, complete with crispy shell and molton-hot filling.

Vegan Shack is green ethically (and in its colour scheme) but there’s not a lot of greenery in the food. If you want healthy, holier-than-thou plant-based eating, go elsewhere. But if it’s a big sloppy burger and a Biscoff milkshake you’re craving, this is your place.
