Knowsley Safari
Knowsley Safari is an exciting day out for all animal-lovers – not just for kids. Who wouldn’t want to watch their car’s windscreen wipers being expertly deconstructed by some cheeky little baboons?
The safari drive is a real highlight of any visit. What’s more, entry to the park means you can go round as many times as you want.
The five-mile trip takes you past camels, white rhinos, ostriches, lions, yaks, deer, antelopes and baboons. Those who don’t want to risk the condition of their vehicle can take the car-friendly route. There is a baboon bus you can book on to for an extra six quid, so you can get up close to the animals without car calamities.
There’s plenty to see on foot too. The tiger trail, sea lions and mischievous meerkats are probably the biggest draws, but there are also birds of prey, giraffes and tapirs.
If the animals can’t hold your kid’s attention, there’s also a play area and a few amusements. There’s even a train if you can’t face walking all the way to the red river hogs. There are plenty of picnic tables dotted around should you wish to bring a packed lunch.
