Run by owners Samukele Skhosana and Benjamin Cook, it opens early on weekdays for commuters and works on an until-sold-out basis, so timing your visit is key. With its relaxed location, it’s a welcome addition to the rather scarce Castlefield coffee scene.
Castlefield
Duke Street Coffee
Duke Street Coffee is a recent arrival to Castlefield, bringing speciality brews to an area short on independent cafés. Tucked on the street it’s named after, this compact spot serves the full espresso lineup alongside matcha and its signature hojicha lattes, a roasted Japanese green tea that’s smooth, nutty and low in caffeine.
The drinks menu allows for plenty of customisation, from alternative milks to flavour shots, and there’s a small selection of sweet treats to go with your cup. Everything is available hot or iced, making it as much a summer pit stop as a winter warm-up.
