Kampai Sushi Bar
Kampai Sushi Bar brings an off-centre approach to Japanese cooking to Hale’s dining scene. They describe their food as authentic but not traditional – a concept reflected in dishes such as their diminutive sushi tacos, sushi donuts, and spiced togarashi fries.
The main thrust of the menu, however, will please those who like their sushi without too much innovation. As well as the sushi rolls, sharing platters and sashimi, there are robata grill dishes such as ginger miso salmon. Plus other classics of Japanese cuisine including ramen, bao buns, and gyoza.
They also offer super-healthy poke bowls which offer a choice of fish (raw salmon, raw tuna, seabass, diced yellow fin) or tofu, on a salad of cucumber, avocado, seaweed, edamame beans, mango, and sticky rice.
For drinks, order a bottle of sake or explore their cocktail menu. A recent makeover has created a well-spaced, elegant interior. There is outside seating if you prefer to eat alfresco.
