Mezze Bar & Kitchen
Inspired by the traditional mezze of Greece and Turkey and elsewhere within a sniff of the Mediterranean Sea, Mezze Bar & Kitchen serves hot and cold small dishes to be eaten either as a platter with pitta or as appetisers to the grilled meats and seafood, halloumi and falafel.
The usual suspects include hummus and tatziki, with authentic touches from the likes of borek feta filo pastry parcels and charcoal-cooked aubergine shakshuka. The mains are satisfyingly lamb heavy, from chops in a house blend of spices to chargrilled skewer and rice, and from mince adana with Turkish flavours to kofte meatballs made following chef Ali’s secret recipe. Chicken-wise, think Cypriot-spiced chicken sizzler served on a hot skillet with ailoi or the beyti, featuring chicken breast marinated in garlic and oregano and served in slices. Other Mezze mains head into salad and stew territory, or burgers such as spicy suçuk beef.
Draft and bottled beers are available, and you’re spared the retsina in favour of Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio or Merlot. The Bar part of Mezze Bar & Kitchen can also knock up a cocktail or two – an espresso martini could step in for dessert, while the pomegranate cosmopolitan and Cypriot red liquorice are both on message.
