The Pheasant Inn
The Pheasant Inn is a cut above when it comes to country pubs. Enjoy a drink in the sunshine looking out at the rolling Peckforton Hills or take in the atmosphere of the pub itself which has been standing since the 17th century. It’s full of cosy nooks, exposed beams and country inn character.
The pub has been awarded an AA Rosette so you know this is more than just good pub grub. Food is locally sourced, coming from respected Cheshire farmers and producers and fish comes straight off the trawler of Welfish in Fleetwood. British food forms the main part of the menu but there are notable European influences as well.
Typical dishes include beer battered haddock with hand cut chips and mushy peas, Welsh lamb rump with crisp hogget shoulder, asparagus, samphire and salsa verde, and sirloin steak from the grill.
For starters, you’ll find things like smoked salmon with romesco sauce and ‘nduja or whipped goats cheese mousse with heritage tomatoes and watermelon. There are sandwiches available too.
There’s plenty to do in the area, with the Sandstone Trail good for walking and both Beeston Castle and Cheshire Ice Cream Farm nearby. You can always turn your visit into an overnight stay as there are rooms available.
