Set inside Manchester’s iconic Midland Hotel, Mount Street Dining Room & Bar is a chic space with an all day menu that offers a modern take on British classics using top-notch, locally sourced, fresh seasonal ingredients.
You’re invited to discover the best the North has to offer, from the Ribble Valley’s Goosnargh chicken to Yorkshire’s Limousin steak. The in-house butcher ages the beef for a minimum of 28 days before picking the best cuts, the salmon is smoked onsite, and the sourdough is proofed in the Midland’s kitchens. Native lobster is halved and grilled and hake fillet is poached, while king oyster and cep mushrooms, roasted celeriac, pearl barley, confit potatoes and Yorkshire lamb put in an appearance. Sweets include an exceptional vanilla rum baba with fresh plum and mint or a cherry and chocolate mousse with fresh cherries and cherry sorbet.
The luxe surroundings, with lots of dark leather, warm woods and Art Deco fixtures, beg a slower pace, be that for dinner à deux, a Sunday roast or a classic cocktail with friends.
Sweet-toothed guests may prefer to book in for The Midland’s famous afternoon tea. Held in The Tea Room, which is dedicated entirely to the taking of tea, the menu includes a gluten-free afternoon tea, a vegan afternoon tea, and a children’s afternoon tea, plus the traditional options.
