Brickhouse Social
Brickhouse Social is a casual place that’s all about pizza, beer and good times. Situated just off Oxford Road, in general it attracts a younger demographic perhaps enticed by the prices. It’s relatively good value for such a prime spot.
Pizza from Doughboys is available by the slice or the full shebang. The names involve some painful puns – David Beak-ham anyone? – but the toppings are good and there are a few vegan offerings.
There’s a brief-ish selection of beers with eight on tap and cocktails too. It’s a mainstream, easy-going party palace not a beard-stroking monument to craft ales. But if you buy a drink, you can have a go on the pool tables for free.
It’s a good choice for live sport with 12 screens across the venue, including six big ones. For major sporting events like the Euros, you can book a table or a private area for your group.
This bar’s stairs are pretty darn iconic; they’ve been a familiar feature across its many incarnations (Black Dog NWS, Generation X). They lead down to the basement for beats and late night boogie action, and up to the well-loved roof terrace. In this busy stretch of bars, there’s not much in the way of outdoor drinking. Head up here to soak up the rays with a Long Island iced tea.
