Suzume
Suzume is a sake bar and restaurant from the team behind The Sparrows. It’s a good-looking but understated place with clean lines and excellent service.
Suzume is not a traditional Japanese restaurant. The sake is the focus. It offers over 60 different sakes sourced through personal connections with Japanese breweries and regular tasting sessions to introduce drinkers to this fermented rice drink which hasn’t really taken off in the UK yet.
Dishes are specially designed to complement the flavours of sake and there are some excellent cocktails. The cocktails have an Eastern influence with genmaicha green tea, umeshu plum, yuzu – and of course sake – playing a part.
Go to Suzume for a guided sake tasting session, drinks, dinner or to buy a bottle to take away.
