Hillgate Cakery

Hillgate Cakery is a fully vegan, family-run bakery and cafe in Stockport’s Old Town. Housed in a mock-Tudor building, the atmosphere is cosy and homely but it’s the cakes that everyone raves about.

From dinky little cupcakes to towering grand chocolate and peanut butter masterpieces, this place is absolutely smashing it when it comes to plant-powered pudding. You can also order them as celebration cakes for a special birthday treat. 

Alongside the cakes, there’s a good range of teas, coffees and hot chocolates and the carrot lox bagels are such a success, reformed vegans no longer pine for smoked salmon. 

Hillgate Cakery also does a good line in vegan cooking essentials and high-end deli treats. Head here to stock up on craft ales, fancy crisps, posh vegan chocolates and marshmallows, meat-free sausages, condiments and some of the best vegan cheese available.
