Bakers Vaults
Bakers Vaults may be a Robbie’s pub but it’s a different pint of ale from those hostelries so ubiquitous around the Stockport fringes. It’s run by the same team as the much-esteemed Castle Hotel in Manchester’s Northern Quarter and Salford’s Eagle Inn. No surprise then that Bakers Vaults has such a good rep for live music and a very cool jukebox.
Inside, it’s a traditional old boozer that’s been done up to the nines. Traditional features are still there but traditional carpets aren’t. It’s all light and airy with dark blue woodwork – like a mood board for a modern pub. Despite that, it retains the warmth and character of a real drinking place. And it has a pub cat.
Food is casual pub fare like loaded fries, burgers and dogs with occasional guest appearances from local stars of the Stockport food scene. There’s a decent selection of craft ales and a pleasant beer garden.
Bakers Vaults is one of the loveliest pubs in the town centre – it’s always rammed after Foodie Fridays.
