Ancoats Coffee Co.
If you’re serious about your coffee, Ancoats Coffee Co has to be your first port of call in this part of the city. Inspired by owner Jamie Bowland’s time spent in the flat-white Mecca that is Melbourne, this is a destination for people who really care about what goes in their cup.
The team expertly roast their own beans and create appropriately named blends like Graphene and Warehouse City. In the Grade II Listed Royal Mills cafe space, you can enjoy their exceptional coffee at its freshest while observing the roasting process as all the action goes on around you.
They do food too, from classic coffee companions like wodges of banana cake or buttery pastries (baked in-house) to toasted sandwiches on sourdough from neighbourhood bakery Pollen.
The space is classic Ancoats, a converted red-brick warehouse with arched ceilings and cast iron beams. But they also have a lovely light and airy courtyard with a curved glass ceiling if you want to escape the hustle and bustle.
Keep an eye on their Facebook for upcoming events such as mechanics for women and candle-making workshops.
