Don Giovanni
Don Giovanni opened in 1984 setting the template for mid-range Italian dining in Manchester.
It has spawned hundreds of imitators over the years but none of them have the longevity of Don Giovanni.
If you want a lively atmosphere, crowd-pleasing pasta and pizza, a few cocktails and a bottle of wine, Don Giovanni is a safe bet.
The pasta is made fresh every day and the pizza dough is double-fermented for 24 hours.
It may not have the personality or the authentic regional dishes of other Italian restaurants in the city but it is dependable and a popular choice with the pre-theatre crowd, just up from The Palace Theatre.
Its position, just off St Peter’s Square, also makes it a good place for people-watching if you can get a table by the windows.
