Glossop Market Hall
The long-anticipated Glossop Market Hall reopened in November 2025 following a £7.3m redevelopment project. The new offering is very different to the old Glossop market, which hadn’t changed much since the 1990s and was becoming more than a little worn around the edges.
The warren of market stalls has been replaced by a light, open plan food hall featuring the kind of trend-leading restaurants normally only found in the city centre. North West success stories Pattersons, Bold Street Coffee and Hello Oriental are all taking a punt on Glossop as the next foodie destination. They’re joined by local-run businesses including Kefi Social (from the owners of The Two Hares) and specialist dessert-makers Baci di Gelato.
There’s also street food hit Wagyu Lookin’ At?, serving Yorkshire Wagyu burgers, and coming soon, Pizza Dealers, who made their name over at Duke Street Market in Liverpool.
The building itself has been transformed with glass skylights and a new mezzanine accessed by a wide central staircase. This will house a fitness studio and a tabletop gaming store, amongst other businesses, and will launch in early 2026.
The shopping arcade
The arcade that leads onto the market has also been redeveloped. Head here for 80s to Y2K vintage clothing from Moda Vintage, bohemian womenswear and gifts from Gypset and the Rainbow, and flowers from award-winning Glossop florist Norris. There’s also Cured deli, spirits shop The Bottle Store, and a ‘Doggo General Store’ from B&V Trading.
Glossop Outdoor Market
If you’re wondering what happened to the traders who were here before the redevelopment, head out the side door to the cobbled outdoor market. Here you’ll find a whole bunch of great-value stalls selling everything from fruit and veg to carpets to handmade witchy trinkets and gifts. It’s open Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
