Thai Soul Cuisine
Thai Soul Cuisine is Confidential Guides’ top under-the-radar recommendation when it comes to Thai food.
Talk about top secret. It’s in Cadishead for a start, and Thai Soul Cuisine’s social media presence is limited to an out-of-date Facebook page. There’s not even a website.
But why would you bust a gasket trying to drum up business when your restaurant is always rammed anyway? Getting a table at this teeny spot takes some doing. But it’s worth it.
Tables are full with Thai expats who travel for miles for a true taste of home as well as lucky locals. The juicy pork satay is a thing of beauty – ok, it’s not much of a looker but it tastes heavenly – and the panang curry is a real crowd-pleaser. Other honourable mentions include the pineapple prawn fried rice which is a family favourite and the Thai fish cakes.
The menu isn’t particularly long nor does it offer anything much beyond what you’d find in a typical Thai chain restaurant but the quality and care in each dish is amazing.
