The Merchant’s Yard
The Merchant’s Yard is a restaurant with rooms in the picturesque Peak District village of Tideswell. It’s smart but unstuffy, and the accompanying accommodation is equally appealing.
With 2 AA Rosettes, The Merchant’s Yard is a fancier option than most other places around. The menu is a tentative mix of fine dining and firm favourites so everyone has something to enjoy, whether you’re taking your kids, your parents or your date. What brings the disparate menu together is a focus on using the best seasonal, locally-sourced ingredients around and letting them speak for themselves.
It doesn’t matter whether you’re tucking in to fish and chips, pizza or one of the more ambitious a la carte options like pigeon breast and confit lamb with beetroot, parsnip and a pigeon and red wine jus, everything is bound together by quality.
Even the pizza can be a bit fancy with toppings like chicken with bacon jam and sweetcorn, or BBQ pork and roasted pineapple in the Hawaiian upgrade. They also do takeaway pizza if you’re local or self-catering in the area.
The Sunday roasts are spectacular – the perfect end to a walk in Tideswell Dale or along the nearby Monsal Trail.
