Treehouse Café
Salford independent the Treehouse Cafe is the sort of picture-perfect coffee house you frequently see on Instagram but rarely stumble upon on the streets of Broughton.
Upcycled furniture, fairy lights, and mandala wall art make for a very cosy, welcoming little spot. And the cake counter looks not unlike an illustration from a children’s book.
Let’s be sensible and start with the savouries though. The menu is mainly breakfast and brunch type dishes, such as eggs benedict, veggie wraps, American pancakes and the like. They also do big, wholesome sandwiches on a choice of breads: avocado and roast pepper on sourdough is a typical vegan option, alongside more traditional offerings of the bacon buttie kind.
It’s all good stuff but the cakes are their strongest card. The selection changes daily and could range from bubblegum cake to warm sticky orange cake to peanut butter blondies. They describe their coffee as ‘strong’ which gets double points from us.
Treehouse Cafe is a lovely stop-off point after a walk in the nearby Kersal Dale woodlands. There’s a very reasonable children’s menu, plus a playroom and a changing table. Dogs are welcome too.
