Sister restaurant to Mark Birchall’s Moor Hall, The Barn restaurant has been given its time in the limelight.
Very reasonably-priced The Barn set in the five-acre grounds of already Michelin Moor Hall was awarded its first Michelin Star during the announcements on 16 February.
Head Chef Nathan Cornwell has previously worked as Sous Chef at Cheltenham restaurant Le Champignon and worked a stage at Restaurant Geranium in Copenhagen before moving on to The Barn in pursuit of a Michelin accreditation.
The hard work has paid off with the Michelin Guide describing the offering as “modern and imaginative… with understated elegance and well-judged combinations of delicious flavours.”
Of course, our gaffer will tell you that he knew it all along. He tweeted his predictions this morning:
⭐️Michelin Stars⭐️ both myself and @ThomHetheringto have forecast a star for @TheBarnMH . We both apologise to head chef @NathanCornwell1 in advance, we’re a rightpair of Jonah’s 😳 Thom more than me, obvs.

The Barn
The restaurant is described as “a rustic setting” but despite living in the shadow of its sister, this dining experience is far from it. Having been awarded a Michelin star itself in 2022, the neighbourhood restaurant serves a seasonal menu using ingredients from Moor Hall’s five-acre grounds and local suppliers.
