Gyms

XF Manchester opened in January 2026 in a prime spot in the Arndale Centre. It’s the third UK opening for this German gym brand (Liverpool and Birmingham also have XF gyms), and although it’s early days at the time of writing, initial feedback is good.

They’re aiming to cover all bases here, with extra facilities you might not expect included in the mid-level membership plan. Sign up for £35 a month and you get access to classes (reformer pilates, HIIT, spin, and Hyrox), plus use of sunbeds, massage tables, and a Himalayan salt sauna – that’s as well as all the fun stuff on the expansive gym floor.

There’s a lot of variety, with almost every type of machine you can imagine. Equipment geeks will be chuffed to see a couple of Jacob’s Ladder machines, a Kickback glute machine, and pin-loaded Matrix hip thruster machines. In other words, the kind of kit your local gym might not have.

Many of the machines track reps and weights. And if you’re just here for the cardio, you’ll be glad to know you can watch Netflix and Instagram Reels while you build up the miles on the running machines.

There’s also an equally well-equipped women’s-only gym, a dedicated Hyrox training area, and a reformer pilates studio.
