5 Fifty Bistro
Formerly known as Paul’s Place, 5 Fifty Bistro is a small, independent restaurant on Aigburth Road. It’s run by the same team as Paul’s Place and has inspired the same warm reception from locals, who have given it ‘hidden gem’ status thanks to its combination of friendly, professional service and quality home-cooking.
Handwritten menus change regularly according to what’s in season. Dishes tend to have a French slant, but they also do lots of British classics, including a much-praised Sunday Roast.
A post-lockdown renovation has given the decor a lift. Although space is limited, large groups can be accommodated. Just make sure you book ahead – it’s deservedly popular.
