La Viña
So much more than the “Bar y Tapas” promised by its signage, La Viña also offers a bistro menu, complete with grill section and charcuteria, showcasing those authentic Spanish home-cooking flavours in dishes other than just small plates.
The team of experienced chefs hail from all regions of Spain, bringing with them new ideas – like slow-roasted pork knuckle with PX sherry jus or paprika octopus tentacle a la plancha – and ingredients, such as Navarran baby artichoke flowers and acorn-fed pork, Basque guindilla peppers and toasted and salted Marjorcan almonds. Tapas-wise, there’s your classic calamares and croquetas, but also spiced Asturian sausage roasted with cider or planks of Spanish cheese with quince and walnut jelly. Round things off with churros, chocolate tart or cheesecake, baked the Basque country way and served with fresh berry compote.
On the wine bar side of things, you can expect an extensive range of Spanish vintages, including a “cellar selection” of reds, and fizzy Cavas, plus fino, manzanilla and Pedro Ximénez sherries. Gin is a thing, served Spanish-style in a copa goblet, and sangría, made with macerated fruits, is available by glass or pitcher.
