Luck, Lust, Liquor & BurnMexican
“Tacos, dreamos and burrito supremos”, that’s what the Northern Quarter’s Luck, Lust, Liquor & Burn is peddling in its dive bar-cum-restaurant, with a dirty food and drink offer that straddles the Mexican-Californian border and a “killer happy hour” that straddles time zones.
From the small plates menu, LLL&B’s signature hot buffalo boneless chicken blasts are the stuff of legend, with the crispy southwest eggrolls lagging not too shabbily behind, and Taco Tuesday sees tacos flying out at £1 a go. But it’s the “banging burritos” that are the main feature, with regulars including the vegan Ariana Grande of cajun-spiced tempeh and wonderdusted fries, and specials like the Jimmychanga – a soft tortilla stuffed with spiced beef, melty cheese, black beans, sundried tomato rice, diced red onion and jalapeños, topped with “fresh smashed guac”, shredded iceberg, chipotle sour cream, Sriracha and pico de gallo. If you’re not prepared to get your fingers sticky, this might not be the place for you.
Golden state booze is also on the menu, with margs, frozen margs, strawberry margs, basically all the margs, and Mexican lager and tequila. Complete with outside terrace and frontline worker Melanie mural, this is authentic Northern Quarter.
