Platzki

Restaurant - European

Modern Polish cuisine is what’s on offer at Platzki, one of the first restaurants to open at Deansgate Mews back in 2018.

Open from 4pm in the week, and from midday at weekends, it serves a creative take on traditional Polish dishes, such as pierogi (dumplings) made with local goats’ cheese, and zeberka (pork ribs) with Perla beer, lime blossom honey, mashed potato, sauerkraut and carrots. The weekend menu takes things up a gear with dishes such as cielecina; veal meatballs in a chive and spring onion sauce with vegetables and silesian potato dumplings.

Definitely save space for a dessert as they’re a real highlight. Go for home-made cheesecake and doughnuts, plus sweet-filled pierogi dumplings and sweet placki ziemniaczane pancakes, with toppings such as apple sauce or sugar.

The atmosphere is homely and down-to-earth, but the food is more upmarket than the name Platzki (potato pancakes) might suggest. Think elegantly presented dishes and lots of fresh, local ingredients. If you want to experience good Polish cooking in a pleasant setting in the city centre, it’s a great choice.

Platzki also has a beer garden, where you can enjoy Polish lagers like Zweic and Perla, and authentic potato-based vodka.
