The Green Lab DSQ
GlobalEat clean at The Green Lab, a “lifestyle destination store” and “health and well-being life concept”, which opened first in the Northern Quarter and then in May 2022 in Deansgate Square, where you can dine in or take away every day from first thing until 11 at night.
Founded in 2019 by sisters Nikita and Kanika Banga, The Green Lab is all about fuelling your body with food and drink that is nourishing, sustainable and fresh. Everything is made in house, mindful of the venture’s carbon footprint, optimising ingredients and minimising waste. So you know exactly what you’re putting into your body, full nutritional information is available, from calories and carbs to fats and protein content. Sushi and sashimi err towards seafood and meat-free, and the eastern influence continues in bao buns and gyoza dumplings, plus flavours of yuzu, ponzu, wasabi and teriyaki. Small plates include prawn pil pil, fattoush salad, and honey and garlic chicken wings; large plates range from Korean-glazed lamb chops to miso-marinated salmon fillet, with a selection of sides such as tenderstem broccoli with romesco sauce and new potatoes with green harissa yoghurt. The Middle Eastern flavours continue with Sunday roasts of harissa chicken and 12-hour slow-cooked lamb; vegans get stuffed butternut squash and turmeric roast tats.
You can tailor your meals, too, and a juice bar serves up healthy bevs – as the sisters say, “We allow you to become your own mixologist navigating how you want to eat, drink, and workout.” Fitness classes are on offer at the NQ’s health studio; here at DSQ, there’s live entertainment Wednesday to Sunday.
