Mathew Street Festival

Festivals

The Mathew Street Festival is back after more than a decade. The August Bank Holiday weekend will see a four-day musical party at Pier Head.

Each day has its own distinct personality with Friday 23 August being the Liverpool Legends slot featuring big names of the 80s and 90s including Lightning Seeds, Holly Johnson, Space and China Crisis.

Saturday 24 August is Party at the Pier with headliners such as The Jacksons, N-Trance and Boyzlife, the Boyzone/Westlife supergroup hybrid. With pop and disco, it’s a bit of good-time retro. There’s also a Bongo’s Bingo session to fit in with the playful party line-up.

Sunday 25 August is the legacy day. Think of the legend slot at Glastonbury but with tribute bands. Expect to dance along to Cavern Club Beatles, Abba Revival, UK Fleetwood Mac and Roxy Magic.

Monday 26 August is named the Cavern Takeover but it’s also another legacy day with tributes to Queen, Elton John, The Rolling Stones and The Who.

Tickets for each day are available separately – it’s a weekender but each day is its own self-contained mini-fest.
