Stockroom
Stockroom is Stockport’s new cultural hub, housed in former retail units in the Merseyway Shopping Centre. It’s a light, bright and modern space that is so much more than just a new library for the town.
The strapline may be ‘read books drink coffee’ but Stockroom also contains Stockport’s archives and registrars so you can register the birth of your baby.
It’s an ambitious community space with top-notch IT facilities and training on how to get the most out of them as well as a whole host of inclusive events.
From summer drop-in sessions for youngsters with DJ equipment and karaoke to coding hackathons, Lego clubs and photography socials, there is something for everyone.
It’s like a cross between council services and a hip Ancoats pop-up with craft workshops and vegetarian banquets.
This isn’t a sssh library, it’s a place for conversation, activity and energy, capturing the vibrancy of a Stockport on the up.
