The World of Beatrix Potter
The World of Beatrix Potter is always handy to have up your sleeve if you’re in the Lake District and the forecast looks a little rainy. Kids love Peter Rabbit, as the always-on-rotation CBeebies cartoon proves, and the books with their delicate drawings and grim realities (rabbit pie) are a hit too.
3D recreations of scenes from the books are brought to life so you can walk through the stories and see favourite characters such as Jeremy Fisher angling from a lily pad and Squirrel Nutkin on his raft.
Of course Peter Rabbit is the best-loved bunny and you can re-imagine his adventures in the garden outside, complete with the nets over the gooseberry bushes where he got caught by his buttons. It’s a beautiful space, designed by Chelsea RHS Gold winner Richard Lucas, and full of the plants and vegetables Beatrix Potter would have used in her own garden.
You won’t be able to avoid the gift shop which is full of cuddly Jemima Puddleducks and the like. There’s also a cafe with a good selection of children’s food including an afternoon tea little ones will love.
