Calcio!

Calcio! is a sports and retro gaming bar on Dale Street in the Northern Quarter. As anyone who remembers watching Italia 90 will know, football is the focus here, but old-school consoles provide the drama when there’s not a match on.

With individual screens in each booth you get a great view of the action. (You might even be called upon to give a VAR decision). Given its location, it’s a bit of a football hipster’s hangout. There’s vintage shirts on the walls and street food vendors Rio-Mex serve beef barbacoa tacos, vegan halloumi burritos and the like. At the bar, you’ll find frozen margs and Central American fizzy pop as well as Coors, Madri and Staropramen on draught, amongst others.

Besides the trusty Megadrives, other sports get a look-in too with big race meetings, major fights, snooker, darts and American Football all showing. Soccer is the main focus though.

Calcio! shows Premier League and Championship matches, Women’s Super League matches, cup matches, Champions League matches, Internationals, Scottish football and even re-runs of classic games.
