Nightcap
Nightcap is a Northern Quarter speakeasy bar. That’s code for it’s underground and it’s quite dark. It sits in the subterranean space under Another Heart To Feed and is from the same team but it’s the very opposite of brunch with a definite nocturnal atmosphere, helped by moody red lighting.
It’s good for cocktails and natural wines on the more easy-drinking end of the funk spectrum and considering the location, it’s pretty good value. With DJs and dancing until the early hours, it’s one of the Northern Quarter’s popular late night sessions.
Nightcap is scuzzier and more up-for-it than its bright and breezy eggs benedict-serving sibling upstairs with a totally different feel. Naughtier and more on the edge.
The decor is underground too with white metro tiles and atmospheric gloom making it look like a disused Underground station. Or a toilet. If that sounds sniffy, it isn’t. The louche low-life vibes fit well with its raucous nature. It’s not as established as some of its Northern Quarter neighbours but it’s already an integral part of the area’s drinking scene.
