Sandbar Withington
Longstanding Manchester favourite Sandbar opened its second location in Withington in May 2025 – nearly 30 years since the original opened on Grosvenor Street in 1996.
If they were patiently waiting until they found the perfect location, they finally succeeded with this spot on Withington high street. It’s just right for a bar that’s always been popular with lecturers, students and locals.
Unlike the original, which is full of nooks and crannies, Sandbar Withington has a well-lit, open-plan interior with big windows that flood the bar with light. Distressed paintwork adds a bohemian, Parisian vibe and music is played low enough to let conversation flow.
At the bar you’ll find a good selection of craft beers and ales. Head there from midday-3pm, Monday-Friday to get a pint and one of their incredible stone-baked pizzas for £12. There’s no beer garden but there’s a few tables at the front if you prefer to sit outside.
Open: Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat, Sun
