Northern Quarter
Science & Industry
If antique glassware and taxidermy squirrels are your thing, this is your kind of drinking den. Hidden above New York-style rum bar Cain & Grain, and behind a door disguised as a stack of crates, you’ll find Science & Industry – an eccentric speakeasy bar.
It’s a dimly-lit, opulent setting to enjoy a cocktail. Go for a signature drink like the Bishop’s Wife; a savoury salute to herb gardens, combining gin, lavender, sage, citrus and saline.
The bar has its own dedicated drinks ‘laboratory’ for experimenting with flavours and mixing techniques. It doubles as a workshop for cocktail masterclasses, known as ‘The Perfect Serve’, where you can learn about your favourite tipples and how best to mix them.
