SOUP
SOUP is the place for leftfield live music in a lo-fi but friendly setting. It’s not fancy but this venue (formerly Soup Kitchen) has embedded itself in Manchester’s music culture.
Prices are reasonable and you’ll find up-and-coming acts and cool artists from further afield gracing the stage.
There’s quite a community-minded vibe and it feels like a safe space for a good night out. Homegrown talent is nurtured, and music is evidently loved and respected, but there’s not an ounce of pretension or cooler-than-thou snobbery.
Considering how many small music venues like this there are in the city, it’s the mark of a good one that SOUP is always a favourite of the acts themselves and the people who go to see them. It’s the place everyone wants to play.
