Cuthbert’s Bakehouse
The couple who own Cuthbert’s started their cake business by baking goodies for friends and family, before branching out to supply local markets and cafes. And although brekkie, brunch and lunch are all on the menu at their Mount Pleasant cafe, it’s still cakes and bakes that they’re best known for. These homemade, own-recipe creations are a level above – tweaked to perfection and made with high quality ingredients, they taste as good as they look (and they look like a dream).
Stop by to see what seasonal bakes are lighting up the counter today. You’ll find the likes of salted maple pumpkin pie in autumn, gingerbread cupcakes and eggnog tarts in winter, and raspberry and white chocolate scones in summer. They also make a selection of quiches every week, plus homemade soups and sausage rolls, amongst other savoury dishes.
Cuthbert’s is a popular spot for afternoon tea (they’re many people’s favourite place for it, in fact). This cosy cafe might not have the glamour of some of the city centre venues but it’ll outcompete anyone when it comes to home-baking.
