Diggle Lock
Diggle Lock is a cafe located next to the Huddersfield Narrow Canal towpath, so as you’d imagine, both walkers and dogs are very welcome. Canines even have their own menu to choose from.
The place is best known for its glorious brunches and french toast. If you have a very sweet tooth – sweet enough to make a dentist wince – you can even try the 10,000-calorie french toast challenge. One human, one trencher of french toast, 90 minutes.
The vegan selection is also good and don’t miss the specials board. The food is relatively simple but it’s hearty and honest, showcasing local suppliers and quality ingredients.
I love the grilled cheese sandwiches oozing with melted goodness – and yes I would like to add chorizo thank you very much.
If you like Diggle Lock as much as I do, there’s also a little shop where you can buy the cafe’s award-winning coffee and freshly baked bread from the other side of Standedge Tunnel in Marsden, as well as milk and eggs from Saddleworth on this side of the hill.
