The Mobberley Ice Cream Company specialises in a back-to-basics approach using milk, cream and sugar. No powdered flavourings, no artificial additives. The milk comes from a local herd of Cheshire cows and is sourced fresh daily. Udder to cone in three days.
There are over 40 flavours available with specialities and seasonal offerings but just two dairy-free choices. Considering the wholesome, all-natural ice cream making process, it must be one of the most varied selections in the UK, certainly of this quality.
After a walk in the Cheshire countryside on a sunny day, there is nothing more rewarding than a cone of summer bliss from The Mobberley Ice Cream Company. The fruit and nut speciality flavour is – at least according to Confidential Guides – the best ever tasted in the UK. That’s some accolade.
The benchmark vanilla is as heavenly as its heavenly vanilla bean name suggests. Other impressive concoctions include roasted strawberry with buttermilk, toast and jam, real blackberry ripple and mince pie. The last one makes a great Christmas present.
The Mobberley Ice Cream Company has new owners but the ethos remains the same, and the ice cream is churned to the same recipe. There’s a cafe with a lovely outdoor space and light breakfast and lunch options but the ice cream is the real draw. You can’t go without trying some – and taking some home with you. Take a cool box and clear space in your freezer now.
