The boat occasionally changes location, with updates posted on social media, but for now its sunny Castlefield mooring between the white suspension bridge and The Wharf makes it a scenic stop. A slow coffee here fits perfectly with the pace of the surrounding canals.

The Coffee & Cake Boat
The Coffee & Cake Boat is a floating café moored on the Bridgewater Canal in Castlefield, serving freshly brewed coffee and homemade bakes straight from its narrowboat counter. Officially named Cast No Shadow after the Oasis track, it’s run by owner Libby and has quickly become a weekend favourite since launching in 2024.
Most of the cakes are vegan, with a changing line-up that can include lemon drizzle, ginger cake or new creations that rarely last long before selling out. Drinks range from rich espresso to iced refreshments for warmer days, ideal to take away for a wander along the cobbles and towpaths.
