Lass O’Gowrie
Manchester classic the Lass O’Gowrie won Best Pub in Britain in 2012 but suffered a loss in income (and a change of landlord) when the BBC building opposite closed. It’s now very much a Greene King pub but it still retains much of its character and charm.
It’s known for its real ales, and its drama, comedy and live music nights. Sports fans appreciate the big screens while budding musicians can take to the stage at regular open mic nights.
The Lass O’Gowrie serves pub food including roasts on Sundays. It’s always been seen as more of drinking destination than an eating one, but that could change with their new kitchen and the adoption of the Greene King brand.
